ALL WOMEN SHOULD TRAIN BJJ!

Hi Everyone,

Let me tell you a real story that fortunately didn’t turn into a bigger tragedy!

Andrea Puerta is a 25 year-old dog walker who was on her way her home on the Miami Metromover when, on September 4th, she was the victim of a horrific attack and ever since her “life has changed completely.”

Her attacker was Joshua King, a much bigger, stronger and heavier individual, who without any explanation or reason punched her over 30 times and got her face slammed into the hard seat of the train.

To the news Andrea said: – “Emotionally, I am destroyed. I try to be strong with everybody, but every day I cry.”

To the media, Puerta explained she will no longer use public transportation, go out at night, she is avoiding strangers and is still, unable to sleep.

Sometimes we don’t pick the fight but the fight picks us and we must be prepared. We don’t want this to happen to anybody and specially to someone who has no idea how to defend himself.

Jiu-Jitsu gives the practitioner the tools to deal with situations like that. The individual doesn’t need to be strong or physically gifted.

“BJJ revolves around the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution, taking the fight to the ground and using a number of holds and submissions to defeat them.”.
